Customer Case Study: Ironworkers Hamilton Local
At JH French, we proudly work with businesses and unions across Hamilton, forming close relationships that last decades. We recently interviewed Jan Mahoney, an administrator from Ironworkers Hamilton Local 736. We have worked with Jan and Local 736 for 12 years, and she was happy to share her experience with us!
How long have you worked with JH French, and what services do they provide for you?
I’ve been working at Ironworkers Local 736 for 12 years, and through those years, JH French has done newsletters, all of our letterheads, and just recently, Glen started doing our cheques as well.
We just moved from one accounting system to a new system online. We went over this with Glen and he came back with a solution for us and got us everything we needed. JH French also does all of our mailouts and our election ballots.
They do quite a bit of work for us at the local union - and not just our union, but many other local unions as well. It’s really important that if you work for a union, you have a union company work with you too.
What is your favourite thing about working with JH French?
There are two things. The first is their pride in their product, and two, what we get back is an exceptional product. They provide you with exactly what you’re looking for.
They send you a proof so you can check to make sure it’s exactly what you want, and if there are any mistakes or miscommunications, we just get on the phone, talk to Glen, and he always goes above and beyond to make sure it gets looked after.
Every two years we have an awards dinner, and Glen puts together the booklet for that event. That booklet contains names from 25 years of service up until 60 years of service - that’s a lot of work!
If you miss a name or something… it’s a lot. But if anything is missed, he rectifies it and you can clearly see the pride he takes in his work, and that’s huge. They really go above and beyond. They’ll even make suggestions to help make our work even better.
What has been the impact of having a dependable printing company for the union?
It’s been huge, because I have 1,600 members, and if they’re doing the mail out for these 1,600 members - that is huge! They’ve been able to do all of it, even during COVID.
They’ve sent a staff member out to us, wearing a mask, and they’ll use our postage machine to make sure the mail goes out. They’ll always get it done within the timeline that we need.
How satisfied are you with JH French’s service?
You won’t find another print shop like it that cares! And you know what, you cannot pay people to care.
Would you recommend JH French to other unions or businesses?
100% - that would be my first phone call. Why waste time with anybody else? Even if I had only worked with JH French for one year rather than 12 years, I would say the same thing. I’m not kidding. They go above and beyond, and that is a huge thing for me.
They just did, oh I don’t know how many 2022 calendars we just did for all of our members, and we’re so happy with the work - every time.
