Customer Case Study: Matthew Creary
JH French proudly works with businesses and unions across Hamilton and beyond. We’ve worked with some of our customers for decades and continue to foster these close relationships. We recently interviewed Matthew Creary, who holds the titles: Western Ontario Area 1 Manager for the Carpenters District Council of Ontario, Local 18 Hamilton/Niagara Carpenters Union Business Manager, and Local 18 Hamilton/Niagara Carpenters Union Financial Secretary. He has worked with Glen and JH French for over 25 years.
You’ve worked with JH French for 25 years! How would you describe your experience?
I would say that it’s been excellent. They do more and more stuff for us now, like now they can actually get our newsletters and mail outs, they have a company that folds it, stuffs it, stamps it and sends it out for us. It saves us a pile of time and money.
We use JH French maybe 10 times a year for all of our printing - the newsletters, mail outs, envelopes, letterheads - they do quite a bit. We’ve never, ever had a problem with them, everything is usually here ahead of schedule.
It’s been an enormous enjoyment working with them. I actually have the whole council now, which is the Province of Ontario, using them too now.
Would you say that JH French’s history as a union printing company and working with unions really appeals to unions today?
Oh definitely. I think most local people here, if they have control over their local and not you know, a council body in Toronto, would use French. Like we all like to use union whenever we can, as much as possible.
But when you can get a Canadian-made and a Canadian company to do it, that’s what we try to do. We try to keep our economy and our people busy!
And you know, Glen and the other workers have always been excellent to deal with. They always return your calls, and honestly, he is a great guy. A very personable dude.
That’s amazing, it really sounds like you’ve had a great experience working with JH French.
On a scale of 1-10, I would rate them a 15. They have great communication skills, good public relations, and they always get back to you. If they can’t perform, they’ll find someone who can for you. They don’t leave you hanging.
So, would you recommend JH French to another business owner?
Yes. In a heartbeat. Just like my mechanic - now Glen’s got about 15 people in there who all know me! I actually have four of my family members going to him now!
